April 12 @ 2:00 am - 5:00 pm CEST

Welcome to join the launch of the documentary “Diary of Travelling Rivers”, on April 12 at 14.00 at Impulse, Campus WUR.

Check out the program here!

Travelling Rivers is a collective counter-mapping initiative that aims to illustrate and mobilize the knowledges, imaginaries and conflicts around rivers that are generally hidden, but that are perceived and experienced every day by riverine communities.  This documentary is part of the Riverhood (ERC) and River Commons (INREF) projects. It follows the journey of Maria, a fisherwoman and artist in Colombia, and Vanessa, an activist-artist in Ecuador, along six rivers. Their goal is to create a mapping movement that connects communities living alongside rivers, sharing their stories, and bridging their experiences and struggles.

The Award of Excellence winning documentary (international Impact Docs Award) shows how these ‘river connectors’ make rivers travel, promoting translocal solidarity. During the event in Impulse the researchers and filmmakers discuss the notion and practices of ‘counter-mapping’, the making of such impact documentaries, and how the rivers that now have crossed and connected Colombia and Ecuador, may bridge and travel to European, Asian and African rivers – the next initiative.
