Rethinking Justice and Politics in a More-than-Human World

On 22 February, the expert panel with Prof. Mihnea Tănăsescu and PhD researcher Carlota Houart, organised by The Earth Society, will address the topic of “Rethinking Justice and Politics in a More-than-Human World”. The experts will reflect on questions such as: Have you ever asked yourself how you relate to ‘nature’? What factors and experiences may have shaped this relationship? How does this affect your attitude towards the natural world and non-human beings? On a societal level, what are its implications?

Speakers:

Mihnea Tănăsescu – is a Research Professor of the Fund for Scientific Research (F.R.S.-FNRS), in the School of Human and Social Sciences, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, University of Mons, Belgium. His most recent books are Ecocene Politics and Understanding the Rights of Nature: A Critical Introduction.
Carlota Houart – is a PhD researcher at Wageningen University, the Netherlands, in the ERC-funded project ‘Riverhood: Living Rivers and New Water Justice Movements”. Carlota’s research focuses on multi-species justice in rivers from a political ecology perspective.
